Feyenoord is at a loss regarding the situation of Quinten Timber, who has increasingly lost his starting spot and has an expiring contract with the Rotterdam team. The midfielder still represents a lot of value, but according to… The Telegraph Timber will not be sold this winter and Feyenoord wants to run the risk of Timber leaving on a free transfer.

In the podcast Kick-Off van The Telegraph Valentijn Driessen states that Timber will not make a transfer this winter and Feyenoord would have decided not to sell the midfielder in the winter. “There will be no white smoke. It will go away, but not yet in winter.” There is a lot of interest in the Dutch midfielder, who has not made much of an impression this season, is not really productive and is no longer a regular starter. Yet Feyenoord seems to have decided that he will stay.

‘Feyenoord must sell Timber this winter’

However, Mike Verweij thinks that Feyenoord has little choice and will have to sell Quinten Timber in the winter. This is because Timber’s contract is expiring and the chance of a contract extension is not great. “I think Feyenoord will have to try that eventually. There will be others [nieuwe] boys back, I hope.”

Valentijn Driessen responds to this by stating that he does not agree with Verweij and that Feyenoord should not take that risk with a player who still has a contract with Feyenoord and can be important for the rest of the season. “You should never take the risk like Feyenoord. You must always hold him to his contract. Then he walks out the door for free.” However, Verweij doesn’t understand that. “I think it would be a shame to let it walk out the door for free. You have to sell it in the winter.”
