The Belgian women had to win against Hungary on Sunday, after an earlier loss against Ukraine (5-0) and a win against Azerbaijan (4-1). After the defeat against Hungary, the Belgians finished in third place in their group. Only group winner Ukraine qualified for the European Championship.
Clara Lassaux, 28th in the European BEC rankings, opened on Sunday with a defeat in two sets (21-17 and 22-20) against Vivien Sandorhazi (BEC 16). Then Karla Henry (BEC 98) also lost in three sets (19-21, 21-11 and 21-10) against Agnes Korosi (BEC 18). Noa Dauphinais (no ranking) lost to Zsofi Szabo (BEC 106) in two sets (24-22 and 21-12).
In the first doubles match, Tammi Van Wonterghem and Flore Vandenhoucke also lost again, in three sets (19-21, 21-19 and 21-12) against Korosi and Sandorhazi. Fae Boonen and Lieke Van Parys were able to save the honor with a win in the final match in two sets (21-19 and 21-13) against Szabo and Petra Hart.
