Hans Kraay Jr. is very impressed by the qualities of FC Eindhoven talent Thijs Muller. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder can count on many compliments from the analyst, who expects Muller to play in the Eredivisie next season. Kraay is also full of praise for the work of Jan Poortvliet, the interim coach of FC Eindhoven.
In conversation with ESPN Kraay first talks about Poortvliet, who joined FC Eindhoven after coach Maurice Verberne’s leg fracture. “He has completely resuscitated FC Eindhoven with thirteen points from six games,” said the analyst. “I understand that older trainers have to keep up with the modern times and of course not all specialists who hang around their team are cookie-cutter. But Poortvliet has shown what Dick Advocaat, Guus Hiddink and Willem van Hanegem have been saying for years. You can trust your eyes and your feelings for 80%.”
“And he put an 18-year-old brat out of ten. Thijs Muller, from his own youth,” Kraay then talks about Muller. “You have noticed lately that I like left-footed. This one also has a really nice feeling in his left leg. A nice through ball and a beautiful shot.”
Kraay expects Muller to be in the Eredivisie next season. “PSV may have set his sights a little too high, but unfortunately for Poortvliet and Eindhoven, he is in his first and last season, because the Eredivisie clubs are not blind,” Kraay concludes.
