In the 74th minute of the game, Sudan scored after a pool kick in the area. On a free kick on the right side, the Sudanese center bounced off Equatorial Guinean Luis Asue, then on defender Saul Coco, before entering the goal.
Equatorial Guinea failed to equalize after that, despite a huge chance in added time. Served alone in front of the goal on a ground pass, Emilio Nsue was unable to push the ball deep, hampered by the return of the Sudanese defense (90th + 2).
This is the second defeat conceded by Equatorial Guinea in this CAN, after that against Burkina Faso on Wednesday (2-1). Sudan is relaunching after losing to Algeria when it entered the fray (3-0).
