Eklund Injury: DIF Status & Updates

It was in the last SHL match before the Junior WC in Minnesota that Djurgården’s JVM selected forward Victor Eklund was slashed across the leg by Timrå’s team captain Anton Lander.

Eklund fell to the ice in pain and Lander was sent off for two minutes. It already happened in Victor Eklund’s second substitution and he made his way out to the substitution booth where he sat for a good while. After that, he suspended the game and was done after just 1:17 of ice time.

This week, Djurgården has had five ice sessions at Hovet, but without Victor Eklund’s participation. However, the other selected JVM players Viggo Björck and Anton Frondell have been on ice with Djurgården.

Cautionary statement about Eklund

Zoo trainer Robert Kimby is cautious in his statements about Eklund.

– He couldn’t just be here for the training sessions. I don’t get involved in that otherwise, says Kimby.

According to information given to Hockeynews, Victor Eklund was at the gym at Hovet on Wednesday.

– He would just rest from training. More than that, I haven’t bothered either, says Kimby.

But you haven’t heard that it will be any worse considering that Eklund is going to JVM?

– No, I think it’s calm. He’s leaving. I haven’t bothered to ask because I expect there to be no problems, says Robert Kimby.

The junior crowns will be collected on Saturday before the departure to the USA and JVM.
