The away match against FIT Almere ended in a 6-2 defeat for Dunlop DKC on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the score difference, there was plenty of fighting spirit to be seen among the residents of The Hague.
The doubles did not score any points. Michiel Kruijt and Gijs Duijs won the second game convincingly in the men’s doubles 21-7, but lost the first (16-21) and decisive third (17-21). The women’s doubles was a one-sided affair: Chloe Tsai and Cindy van der Werf lost without a chance against Diede Odijk and Kirsten de Wit (0-21, 5-21).
Bright spot of the evening: Flora Wang. She started strongly with 21-11 in the first game against Alida Chen, lost the second 18-21, but convincingly took control of the match in the third game with 21-10. Great performance under pressure.
The second point came from Mark Caljouw and Jaymie Laurens in the mixed doubles. After losing the first game (13-21) against Noah Haase and Kirsten de Wit, they fought back with 21-19 and 21-18. The remaining parties went to Almere. Mark Caljouw narrowly lost in three games to Noah Haase (20-22, 21-15, 19-21), Thomas Sibbald and Jaymie Laurens had to bow out in two games, and the first mixed doubles was also lost in three games. Final score 6-2, but with fighting spirit towards the next match.
This next match will be next Saturday, December 20, at home at 7:00 PM: shared leader Duinwijck will be our guest.
