A group of English fans expressed themselves, through a statement, “shocked” by the “exorbitant” prices charged by FIFA for the 2026 World Cup final, which could reach 7,500 euros.
According to an article published in the ‘BBC’, which had access to the price list, tickets are divided into three categories – the best value (which costs 3,500 euros), the standard value (which is around 4,700 euros) and the premium value (set at 7,500 euros).
The same source says that this group of fans considered “a slap in the face” the fact that, to gain access to the MetLife Stadium in New York, the venue for the 2026 World Cup final, they would have to pay almost seven times more than the amount they had to pay to be present at the 2022 World Cup final, in Qatar, where tickets cost around 513 euros. Not only that, the fact that the games of the most prestigious teams are more expensive than most matches is also attracting a lot of criticism. And the ‘BBC’ sets an example: the cheapest ticket for England-Croatia will cost around 225 euros, while the cheapest for Haiti-Scotland is around 152 euros.
Fan organization Football Supporters Europe (FSE) also described the current prices as “extortion” and a “monumental betrayal of the World Cup tradition, which ignores the fans’ contribution to the spectacle that it is”. Furthermore, the intention of those responsible in the USA when they applied to organize the tournament was to offer hundreds of thousands of tickets for 17 euros in the group stage…
Remember that FIFA has not yet given any explanations regarding the ticketing process for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada between June 11th and July 19th of next year.
