FC Barcelona has reached the next round of the Copa del Rey. When they visited CD Guadalajara, which is seventeenth in the third level, the score was 0-2 for Hansi Flick’s team. The Catalans kept it exciting for a long time, as the 0-1 was only made in the eightieth minute.
The first big chance of the match was for the home team. Manu Ramírez shot on goal from outside the box, but Marc-André Ter Stegen was able to clear the ball from the intersection.
A little later, Eric García tried from a great distance. The Barcelona defender almost shot on goal from his own half, only to see the keeper make the save.
Before halftime, Roony Bardghji came close to making it 0-1 from a direct free ball and García with a header, but they were also not accurate.
After the break, Flick’s team continued to push. This time Marcus Rashford tried his luck twice, but he also saw Dani Vicente save the day.
Fifteen minutes before the end, Barça finally took the lead. Frenkie de Jong delivered a fine cross to the head of Andreas Christensen, who headed home at the far post.
In the final phase, De Jong almost had another assist to his name. The midfielder passed the ball to Pedri behind his supporting leg, but the Spaniard shot just wide.
Shortly afterwards the Catalans still made it 0-2. Lamine Yamal played a deep pass to Rashford, who rounded the keeper and fired in in front of an empty net.
