Is Curry open to the idea of Mike Dunleavy Jr., current GM of the Warriors, of bringing Thompson back this season? This Thursday, Steph sent Klay a two-word message on this topic.
“It would be amazing”Curry told ESPN’s Anthony Slater and Tim MacMahon before describing why.
“If that time comes and that conversation happens, of course I’ll call him and say, ‘We want you back.’ And I hope that’s a welcome message to him. But the way things are right now, that seems like a very distant reality. But it also seemed unlikely that he would leave.”
Thompson averaged 17.9 points on 43.2% shooting from the field and 38.7% from 3-point range during his final season with the Warriors, which is certainly valuable production. However, Thompson’s 0-for-10 performance against the Sacramento Kings in the No. 9-No.
Thompson is going down the wrong path with the Mavericks. While he’s had his moments in Dallas, his inconsistent shooting and poor on-ball defense have hurt him so far.
That being said, a return to the Warriors could be just what Thompson needs to get back on track.
Curry desperately needs help in the Bay, and Thompson’s proven success alongside Steph could work again. For now, we just have to imagine that.
