Cuba WBC Roster: MLB Players Named to Preliminary Team

The Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation (FCBS) confirmed this Saturday that it will be present at the VI World Baseball Classic, scheduled for next year at different international venues, and published a preliminary list that includes active Cuban players in the United States Major Leagues.

In an official statement, the FCBS detailed that The preselection is made up of 50 players, including athletes linked to MLB, the Japanese Professional Baseball League, other professional leagues and baseball players currently participating in the 64th National Series.

The authorities indicated that they are still waiting for authorizations from the Major League teams so that the players can join the national team. Besides, They asked that the immigration process not be affected by external factors.

“We hope that the US authorities will guarantee the visas that allow us to participate in the tournament, without issues unrelated to the competition or contrary to the principles of the sport mediating in this process,” the Federation said.

The organization also highlighted the relevance of the contest, which will be held from March 5 to 17 with venues in Puerto Rico, the United States and Japan, according to the official information of the event.

The World Baseball Classic is organized jointly by Major League Baseball (MLB) and the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
