The play took place in the 41st minute of the second half. In a one-on-one between “Chiquete” and Ángel Correa, the Tigres player finished, and the defender blocked it with his right foot. However, the hit was strong, and the ball ended up turning the Cruz Azul defender’s ankle.
Thus, Orozco fell crying on the pitch, the ambulance entered the field and players from both teams were desperate at the image of the athlete’s ankle turned. Therefore, the defender is out of Wednesday’s match (10) and is a concern for the Mexican team for the 2026 World Cup, depending on what the tests indicate.
IS OROZCO A BLUE CROSS HOLDER?
Jesus Orozco, 23 years old, started in the first leg of the semifinal, but came on in the second half last Saturday (06). However, with just 28 minutes on the field, the defender had to leave the pitch, leaving the team with one less, as they had already made five changes. This season, Chiquete played 16 games, scored one goal and made one assist.
For the Mexican National Team, Orozco has nine games, the last of which was last month. On November 18, the athlete started in the 2-1 friendly defeat against Paraguay. In other words, an important loss for Cruz Azul for the clash with Flamengo.
