Anderlecht performed well in the Croky Cup with a nice victory after extra time against Genk, but also received bad news: Ludwig Augustinsson dropped out early and will be sidelined until after the winter break.
Anderlecht were able to book a spectacular victory in the Cegeka Arena yesterday. KRC Genk was heading for a win, but Adriano Bertaccini was able to make it 1-1. The Purple & White were better in extra time.
A penalty from Thorgan Hazard and a goal from Kanate into an empty goal ultimately made the difference. In the next round, the purple and white will meet KAA Gent, this time in the Lotto Park.
Augustinsson out until the winter break
But not everything went well in the match against Racing Genk. After fifteen minutes of play, Besnik Hasi was already dealt a serious blow. He saw Ludwig Augustinsson drop out.
He seemed to have injured himself due to a wrong move, although it was not immediately clear what was going on. The Swede grabbed his foot, but in the meantime Anderlecht provided a little more clarity. He will no longer be in action this calendar year.
“Ludwig Augustinsson had to leave the side early during the cup match against KRC Genk. Investigations show that the Swede suffered a calf injury. Ludwig is expected back after the winter break,” the Purple & White said.
