After a slump of three defeats which cost them a place in the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys returned to winning ways with a 30-23 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday.
Dak Prestcott completed only 19 of his 37 passes, but amassed 307 yards through the air, in addition to throwing two touchdown passes.
The Cowboys (7-8-1) quarterback took advantage of KaVontae Turpin’s speed for much of his passing gains. The receiver caught Prestcott’s long pass for an 86-yard escape to give the Cowboys a 21-3 lead in the second quarter.
Jake Ferguson and Javonte Williams scored the Cowboys’ other two majors. However, the Cowboys’ two offensive players left the game due to injuries.
Due to the injury to Williams, Malik Davis had a strong game in the Cowboys backfield. Davis set a career high with 103 rushing yards.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt carried much of the offense for the Commanders (4-12) during this game. The running back scored two rushing touchdowns and had 105 rushing yards.
More details to come.
