The industrial tribunal delivered its verdict this Tuesday in the conflict between the captain of the France team and his former club, Paris Saint-Germain.
The industrial tribunals have spoken. The conflict between Kylian Mbappé and PSG, his former employer, reached a decisive turning point this Tuesday. An important episode… but certainly not the last in this saga which has poisoned the lives of both camps since 2024 and the departure of the captain of the France team for Real, at the end of his contract in Paris. Various procedures have already been launched before several courts. The two camps confronted their arguments on November 17 before the industrial tribunal in Paris. Several hours of debate, €700 million claimed in total, 440 by PSG and 263 by Mbappé, including the €55 million in bonuses and salaries not paid at the end of the 2023-24 season, its seventh and last on the banks of the Seine. The verdict was expected on Tuesday.
He fell. In this case, the judges ruled in favor of Kylian Mbappé, ordering PSG to pay him nearly €61 million for unpaid bonuses and salaries, plus paid leave. The capital club was rejected in all its requests. Paris can, of course, appeal, but at the time of writing these lines, the decision has not been decided, as Le Figaro learned it.

No surprise
In summary, Paris must pay the sum which was initially due to “KM” and was therefore not heard as to “the agreement» which would have been passed between the player and his president… orally. Even if the person concerned himself mentioned a “deal” in front of journalists in January 2024, Mbappé never signed an amendment. Under these conditions, the industrial tribunal, unsurprisingly, applied labor law and asked the Parisian club to pay the sums withheld in 2024, as requested from the start by the 26-year-old’s advice. The latter, on the other hand, did not succeed in their case for the reclassification of the CDD into a CDI, nor on their other requests, such as moral harassment for example. Note that Paris-SG will also have to display the decision on the front page of its website for one month.
In recent days again, PSG spoke of a “question of honesty and values“, of “word kept“… or not and “of integrity”, some internally recognizing a “naivete», that of having stuck to the supposed word of the player without requiring a signature. “It’s better than duplicity», We still said internally before the verdict. Paris-SG has not yet reacted this Tuesday.
This judgment reestablishes a simple truth: even in the world of professional football, labor law applies to everyone.
Press release from Kylian Mbappé’s legal team
Kylian Mbappé’s lawyers, for their part, expressed their satisfaction, like Me Frédérique Cassereau. “We are satisfied with the decision. This is what was to be expected when salaries were not paid“, she declared to the press on Tuesday. Without an amendment to the signed employment contract, the industrial tribunal could not make any other decision than this one. Kylian Mbappé won this showdown.
«This judgment confirms that the commitments made must be honored. It reestablishes a simple truth: even in the world of professional football, labor law applies to everyone“, declare the advice of “KM” via a press release, recalling that the player “scrupulously respected his sporting and contractual obligations for seven years, until the last day“. It remains to be seen whether this episode was the last of the (long) Mbappé/PSG series…
