Charles Smith (Alexandria, 15 maggio 1949) is a basketball coach American.
In 2024 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.[1]
He played baseball at Paul Quinn College, where he graduated with a degree in mathematics in 1971.[2] In 1975 he was hired as a mathematics teacher at Peabody High School in Alexandria, Louisiana, also becoming an assistant coach of the basketball team. In 1985 he was promoted to head coach of the Warhorses of Peabody, where he is still coach today and with whom he won nine state championships (1991, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2017, 2020, 2024), two of which were undefeated.[3] In 2020 he reached 1072 victories, becoming Louisiana’s winningest coach at the high school level.[4] As of 2024, he is the fourth-winningest in the nation.[1]
