CAN 2025: Ticket Fraud & Arrests in Morocco

This is one of the big black spots of this CAN 2025. More than 110 people were arrested in several Moroccan cities, suspected in particular of “illegal sale” of tickets for the matches of the African Cup of Nations which is taking place in Morocco, the local press reported on Wednesday.

The 118 suspects are also suspected of “ticket falsification”, “attack on automated data processing systems”, “fraud” or even “dissemination of false information relating” to the continental tournament, indicated the Le360 information site.

Already eight arrests last week

Some of those arrested were placed in detention and others were granted provisional release “depending on the nature and degree of involvement in the criminal acts committed”, detailed the same source.

They were spotted by the police through “dozens of publications on social networks offering for sale, illegally, tickets for CAN matches at prices well above their real value”, specified the information site Snrtnews.

Last week, Moroccan police arrested eight people suspected of “illegal speculation” on CAN match tickets, which is organized in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.
