Ex-tennis professional Becker became a father for the fifth time at the end of November. His daughter is supposed to be supported as a baby – using an unusual method.

Former German tennis professional Boris Becker is already preparing his newborn daughter to play tennis. “A little crazy, but I’m already practicing with her,” said the 58-year-old on the Radio Bremen talk show “3nach9,” which will be broadcast on Friday evening.

Zoë Vittoria was born in Milan at the end of November and is Becker’s fifth child. It is the wish of his wife Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro that their first child would one day also play tennis. The little one should ideally be left-handed, said Becker.

That’s why he always grabs her left hand. “I’ve heard that if you squeeze one hand more than the other early on, it might go into the grip and then she’ll play the forehand with her left.”

Strict as a coach

Becker has also trained his wife – without being lenient, as he now revealed. “As a coach, I am known to be very strict and pay a lot of attention to discipline and physicality,” said the former tennis professional.

Their daughter is also being supported linguistically, said Becker. She grew up speaking four languages: her mother spoke Italian, her grandmother spoke Portuguese, the couple spoke in English and he himself spoke German.
