That was a very bad celebration. Maybe embarrassing. Bohemians footballers lost 0:3 at home against Karvina. After the match for the 120th anniversary, the fans tackled the players. “We drank the cup of bitterness to the bottom,” responded coach Jaroslav Veselý, who at the press conference admitted possible debates about his position with the team.
After the final whistle, the spectators in Ďolíček, which is soon to undergo a planned reconstruction, were offered two completely different views. The Karvin team were frolicking under the guests’ sector, Lucky Ezeh, the author of the second goal of the game, put a Christmas hat on his head and was doing flips on the sideline. “I’d like to be able to do that too,” laughed good-natured coach Marek Jarolím.
Slezana did not lose the fourth game in a row, jumping to fourth place in the league table. “We are very satisfied, both with the game performance, the performance and the result,” commented Jarolím.
That, on the other hand, was a very tense atmosphere. As soon as Bohemians conceded the third goal of the match, some spectators in the longitudinal stand got up and left their seats prematurely. Kotel chanted, “We want Bohemka!”
The actors outside the game received the biggest applause. The club inducted legends Radek Sňozík, Martin Dostál, Josef Jindřišek and David Bartek into the hall of fame. Similar feelings were experienced by Antonín Panenka, who was at the symbolic knocking on the foundation stone of the new Ďolíček.
That ends the positive moments of Sunday afternoon. After a miserable season, the Bohemians players came under fire from the home fans, from whom they received a lot of criticism.
“It was correct, the fans showed dissatisfaction and I understand that. I had several dialogues with them, but both parties are concerned about the same thing. For better results,” mentioned Veselý. “Of course there were foul words, but that’s part of the situation. I accept it and even identify with them in some of the words.”
“These situations are not pleasant. It means that something is not right,” commented Bohemians captain Lukáš Hůlka. “The criticism is fair, we faced them to hear it. That’s the way it should be. We’ve had words of apology and a promise to work on it.”
I am concerned about Bohemka, said Veselý
However, the club’s management is also responsible for falling into the relegation group. This will solve a lot of questions in the cadre in the coming days. Uncertainty reigns over Júsuf Hilál, Hůlka, Adam Kadlec, Matěj Hybš, Vlasij Sinjavský or Nelson Okeke.
“I would like it to be resolved once and for all. I would like those who want to play for Bohemka to come here on January 5th and are so set. Let them resolve it as soon as possible, because it is impossible to speculate about it for so long,” said Veselý.
At the same time, he mentioned that he himself has to have fun with the club management. “We have to sit down and decide if they want me to continue. There will definitely be speculation about it. I’m concerned about Bohemka and I won’t have a problem with it if the management decides to make a change in the coaching position,” said Veselý.
He also put into play the possibility that he would end up alone. “But I’m not running away from anywhere,” he emphasized, continuing: “No contract will protect you from results. We have to talk about reality. We will evaluate the players, but I am responsible and accountable. We have to talk about everything and the management has to know if they believe I have something to give to the team or not.”
Bohemians spend the winter in twelfth place in the table, but more worries await them with the construction of the squad.
