The highlight of the year was hosting the qualifying tournament for the European Championships next February in Turkey. After the successful application for the event, the organizational team around Stefan Lamminger and Martina Nasisi faced a mammoth task. From the shuttle service for the players and officials to the catering and the provision of linesmen, numerous tasks fell to SG Bremthal/Fischbach as organizer. After months of planning and recruiting many volunteers, numerous friends of the fastest ball sport in the world admired the European badminton elite in the Kelkheim Staufenhalle for more than three days on the first weekend in December. The mayors of Kelkheim and Eppstein, Albrecht Küchter and Alexander Simon, also saw the performance for themselves on site and were enthusiastic.
Thanks to an atmospheric atmosphere in the professionally prepared hall, the Germans around Isabel Lohau and Matthias Kicklitz were at their best and showed their skills in sometimes thrilling duels against teams from Belgium, Poland and Sweden. Both German teams finished first in the table with three wins each and achieved the longed-for qualification for the 2026 European Championship in Istanbul.
Stefan Lamminger was happy about these results, and he was particularly grateful for the team effort of the many volunteers from SG Bremthal and BV Fischbach, without whom this big event would not have been possible.
The SGB 2025 demonstrated its organizational talent on several occasions. For the first time, the syndicate also organized the district championships, which met with a great response in Kelkheim with a record number of 270 players in the U9 to U19 age groups. The self-organized tournaments such as the club championships for youth and seniors, but also the Taunus Open, which was organized for the second time in 2025, have a permanent place in the SGB’s calendar. At the end of June, over 100 participants from the surrounding Taunus communities came together to compete. The feedback was so positive that the call for a third edition in 2026 was not long in coming.
League operations, the second half of the previous season and the first half of the current season, provided light and shadow. The results of the U19 and U11 I teams were particularly strong, both of which finished the summer season as champions in their leagues. In contrast, the second and third teams were unable to maintain their class. SG Bremthal/Fischbach started in September with a total of twelve teams, ten of which were youth teams – a club record that documents the successful youth work of the past few years. This development was taken into account and another trainer, Maurizio Battaglia, was hired to specifically support and develop the older young people. The fact that this step is already bearing fruit is not only shown by the course of the following season, where the teams are largely allowed to spend the winter at the top of the table or in the top 3. The strong results in the numerous ranking tournaments in the surrounding area, to which the young talents regularly flock, are peppered with podium places and tournament victories. Outstanding here, just to name three names, Anna Schulze, Emma Höfer and Arne Röwer, who won their respective competitions in singles, doubles or mixed doubles several times. The development is also reflected in the association’s rankings; there are now not only some Bremthaler/Fischbachers in the top 20 in Hesse, but also some in the top 100 in the German rankings.
Another highlight for the youngest children was the visit of second division player Annika Horbach in September. Not only did she answer the many curious questions, but she also showed everyone her tips and tricks.
The great successes and the continuous development work of the past few years are reflected not only in the strong tournament results, but also in the increased attention for the club in the digital world; the SG Bremthal/Fischbach Instagram account recently broke the 1,500 follower mark!
Stefan Lamminger therefore looks back proudly on the year: “The numerous great successes and beautiful experiences that would not have been possible without a strong community in the club are something very special. We are therefore looking forward to a year 2026 that is as varied as it is beautiful.”
