Auray Badminton Club: 30th Anniversary & Tournaments

The Badminton-club Auray (BCA), organized Saturday December 20 and Sunday December 21, 2025 the 17e edition of the Plumes Alréennes tournament. The event brought together 379 players and eleven regional leagues. This is the last 2025 national tournament in Morbihan. Thirty-five players from Auray took part,” specifies Malaury Niquel president of the BCA. Thirty-five volunteers were on deck over the two days during which players from level NC (Unclassified) to N3 (National 3) competed, the height of the rooms not allowing N2 and N1 to be accommodated.

Fourteen courts at the same time

Created in 1996, the club today has 180 members, from the age of six for Mini-Bad. We felt the excitement very strongly after the Olympic Games! It’s a transgenerational sport, it’s fun and the genres are mixed,” points out Malaury Niquel who discovered this sport in college. Even for a beginner, it’s simple”, adds Laura Le Falher, treasurer and player for fifteen years. A third of the club’s members are competitors, coached by Arnaud Leproust, seconded from the Vannes Badminton club.

Training takes place at the Le Verger complex. The two adjoining rooms make it possible to set up a total of fourteen courts, i.e. to have 28 players simultaneously, which means that we can organize more easilytournaments.

An inclusive tournament

During the season, the BCA organizes four tournaments, which represents 90% of its revenue. The next two, February 25 and April 22, 2026, are After Works, also at national level but less important in terms of participation. We will be the first of the 33 Morbihan clubs to offer inter-gender tournaments, a new formula since September. The one on April 22 will also be more inclusive: on the initiative of Karine Muller at the departmental committee, people with disabilities will be able to play with able-bodied people who will adapt to their own rules. On June 27 and 28, it will be a team tournament. Open to the public free of charge.
