On a very good run of nine consecutive victories, in all competitions, Aston Villa hosted Manchester United to consolidate their place on the Premier League podium. Without Mbeumo, Diallo and Mazraoui, who left for CAN 2025, a reshuffled Red Devils team wanted to bring down the Villans to get closer to the European places, but after a well-contested first period, Rogers opened the scoring with a magnificent solitary rush, concluded with a nice curling strike (1-0, 45th).
A goal scored at the best of times, but a poor recovery from Cash just before the break offered an equalizing ball to Cunha, who deceived Martinez to reset the counters to zero (1-1, 45th+3). After a second period with less intensity, the in-form Rogers scored a second goal similar to his first to restore the advantage to his team (2-1, 57th). MU failed to come back and Unai Emery’s men therefore achieved their tenth success in a row and above all a third place, before going to Chelsea. Seventh, the Red Devils will have to get back on track against Newcastle.
