Aston Villa: Third Man Utd Target Revealed?

Senne Lammens impresses at Manchester United when he should have initially joined… Aston Villa. Here’s how his transfer to England went.

Despite long-standing interest from Manchester United, Aston Villa made an offer during the summer transfer window with the aim of recruiting Senne Lammens. Was a transfer to Birmingham possible for the former Antwerp goalkeeper?

“I made my decision quite quickly,” he explains in Het Laatste Nieuws. “For me it was either a transfer to Manchester United or an extension of my stay at Antwerp.”

For Senne Lammens, it was Manchester United or Antwerp

In the final hours of the transfer window, the Red Devils finally came out of the woods. Manchester United paid twenty million euros to bring in the young goalkeeper from Bosuil.

“It was a very stressful transfer period,” Lammens continues. “Especially because mine only came true in the last few hours. At times, I still find it hard to believe it myself.”

In the meantime, a sporting crisis has shaken the Great Old. “It hurt me to see Antwerp’s position in the standings,” he concludes. “I am therefore happy to see that they have been able to rectify the situation,” he concluded.
