The two fighters are getting impatient. One is looking for an opponent, the other to recover. Almost two months after a prematurely ended fight, Tom Aspinall continues to poke at Ciryl Gane via the media and social networks. The English fighter explains that he is still recovering after receiving the Frenchman’s fingers in the eyes during their clash at the UFC in Abu Dhabi at the end of October.
If a no-contest had sealed the match and no winner had been chosen, Aspinall had retained his UFC heavyweight belt. But on Wednesday, an Instagram post from “Bon Gamin” brought the Briton out of his hinges. “Still no date or opponent…but still training hard before the holidays,” Gane captioned images of himself in training.
“Your disgusting nails”
It is difficult to know whether Aspinall interpreted this message as a personal attack, but he reacted virulently to this publication. “No joke, there is no date yet,” he quipped. I’m in no shape to fight and I’m going to have surgery because of your disgusting nails. I’ll be back to beat the shit out of you soon, cheater. »
While UFC boss Dana White hopes for a rematch between the two men, a new fight promises to be electric. At the end of November, the 32-year-old Englishman claimed to suffer from “significant eye trauma” and “persistent diplopia”. He did not digest the outcome of the previous fight, especially since the MMA world had questioned his abandonment, recorded at the end of a poorly started meeting.
