The Italian coach Davide Ancelotti, son of the Brazil coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has left his position as coach of Botafogo after just five months on the bench, the Albinegro club from Rio de Janeiro announced this Wednesday.
“The club appreciates Ancelotti’s professionalism and commitment during the time he led the team and was part of the Alvinegra family,” Botafogo stated on its official channels, which announced that it will announce the new board of directors “shortly.”
According to local Brazilian media, the separation of the son of the Brazilian coach is due to an internal discrepancy related to the work methodology.
The versions indicate that the conflict originated from disagreements in the intensity of the training applied by one of the physical trainers accompanying Ancelotti, born 36 years ago in Parma.
This reason would have precipitated the termination of this member’s contract by the SAF board of directors, something that was unacceptable to the Italian coach, who chose to present his resignation.
Ancelotti leaves the Botafogo bench with a record of 14 wins, 11 draws and 7 losses in 32 games played.
Under his direction, Botafogo managed to reverse an irregular start to the year until reaching sixth position in the Brazilian Championship, securing a place in the qualifying phase of the Copa Libertadores.
