The full-back had been sentenced to four and a half years in prison in February 2024. The complaint came from a 23-year-old woman who had been sexually assaulted by the athlete in the bathroom of a nightclub in Barcelona on December 31, 2022.

After 14 months in preventive detention, Daniel Alves was released on provisional release on March 25, 2024, having previously paid a bond of 1 million euros (R$5.4 million, at the time).

According to the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia, the insufficiency of evidence guaranteed the revocation of the sentence and also the acquittal of the right-back, who, in turn, always denied the accusations, despite contradictory versions throughout the investigations.

In recent weeks, Daniel Alves gained international attention when he was caught while preaching in an evangelical Pentecostal church in Girona, also in Spain.

Since leaving prison, the player has started to work behind the scenes in football, especially in Europe, almost as a businessman, but always with the idea of ​​returning to the pitch and, with that, starting preparations to become a coach.
