World number one Carlos Alcaraz has won the ATP’s Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for the second time in his career.

Awards at the end of a tennis year that are not based on the number of points scored can sometimes be a bit confusing. In the case of the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Awards 2025, the panel that determines the winner could hardly be more prominent. These are the 29 players who have managed to climb to number one in the world rankings at some point in their careers.
And they have now bestowed this honor on Carlos Alcaraz for the second time. Now the days are over when balls that a lines judge had judged somewhat prematurely to be out of the field were then awarded to your opponent. Unforgettable in this context is Dominic Thiem, who told Taylor Fritz at the US Open a few years ago that he should take a challenge after an out call (which Fritz promptly “won”).
But Carlos Alcaraz has once again proven himself to be a fair sportsman this season and has also won eight trophies, including those in Roland-Garros and at the US Open in New York City.
In addition to Alcaraz, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud and Grigor Dimitrov were also nominated. The International Tennis Writers Association (ITWA) had previously made the selection.
