Adidas has announced a long-term partnership with German basketball national players Franz and Moritz Wagner. The two NBA professionals who are currently under contract with the Orlando Magic are returning to a brand that accompanied them at the beginning of their careers.
The brothers, born and raised in Berlin, started their careers at adidas partner ALBA BERLIN. Both made the leap into the NBA via the NCAA and the University of Michigan and are now key players for the Orlando Magic. With the franchise, the basketball stars will play the NBA Berlin Game on January 15, 2026, the first regular league game in Germany in NBA history.
In terms of sport, Franz and Moritz Wagner are among the most successful German basketball players of the moment. In 2023 they became world champions with the German national team, and Franz Wagner also won the European Championship title with the DBB team this year. Adidas is thus binding two figureheads of German basketball to the brand in the long term.
“The partnership with adidas means a lot to me. I started my basketball career at ALBA BERLIN and the three stripes were always part of it,” explained Franz Wagner. His brother Moritz emphasized the special connection to his homeland: “As a German player, it is something very special to work with a partner who is so closely connected to my homeland.”
