Adeyemi BVB Future: Effenberg’s Verdict

Stefan Effenberg sharply criticizes Karim Adeyemi in a one-two. The SPORT1 expert calls for drastic consequences if this happens again.

Does BVB have to think about a drastic step with Karim Adeyemi? SPORT1-Expert Stefan Effenberg found after his anger over his substitution im One-two at least clear words.

“That’s a no-go. If that happens again in the second half of the season, then you’ll have no choice but to give up Adeyemi. Sebastian Kehl made the move with him perfect. He caught him, sent him back and gave him a clear message. He’ll get that again now,” said Effenberg.

The former professional added: “If he relapses again, Borussia Dortmund will have to react in the summer and that means giving him up and selling him.”

BVB: Always trouble about Adeyemi

Adeyemi reacted angrily after being substituted against Mönchengladbach on Friday evening and wanted to storm into the dressing room. Sports director Sebastian Kehl held the attacker by his jacket and so Adeyemi took a seat on the bench.

Afterwards, Kehl announced a fine for the repeat offender. Because the DFB star had complained about substitutions several times.

The 23-year-old’s contract expires in 2027, but BVB actually wants to extend it – especially since the left-footed player is certainly impressive in the offensive with six goals and five assists.

Magath sees the Adeyemi scene as relaxed

Felix Magath, master coach with VfL Wolfsburg and FC Bayern, found the scene surrounding Adeyemi less dramatic.

“It’s always been a reaction from a player. It’s nothing unusual,” he began: “Everything he bought is now added to it. It’s all being warmed up together now.”

For Magath, it was “ultimately a completely normal situation. It is also normal for a coach that a player is dissatisfied after a substitution.”

Adeyemi made headlines a few weeks ago with a penalty order for illegally ordering weapons.
