49ers Injury Update: Pearsall & Green Out vs. Colts

Monday Night Football will be in Indianapolis and 49ers cannot lose pace in the competitive NFC West

SANTA CLARA, California — The San Francisco 49ers will be without wide receiver Ricky Pearsall not even with the corner Renardo Green for Monday Night Football against the Indianapolis Colts.

After training ended Saturday afternoon, the Niners ruled out both key starters as Pearsall is dealing with a right knee injury while Green has dealt with a neck issue.

Ricky Pearsall, who did not practice any of the three days this week, will not travel with the team to Indianapolis and will continue his rehabilitation in the Bay Area.

“Ricky will stay here,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. “It was close, but not close enough.”

Renardo Green’s week was a little more irregular. He was listed as a limited participant in all three workouts, but wore a blue non-contact jersey on Friday before removing it on Saturday.

“His neck has been bothering him since the Titans game and it hasn’t gotten better,” Shanahan said. “So we have to give him a rest this week.”

Like Green, Pearsall suffered his injury in last week’s win against the Tennessee Titans. Pearsall left with a sprained ankle after an illegal tackle on San Francisco’s first offensive play. Titans safety Kevin Winston Jr., was fined $23,186 for the entry on Saturday.

Pearsall returned and played the rest of the game until limping off with what Shanahan has called a posterior cruciate ligament “irritation,” the same injury that kept him out for six games earlier this season.

It is expected that Kendrick Bourne y Demarcus Robinson take on most of the responsibility alongside the wide receiver Jauan Jennings in Pearsall’s absence. Bourne needs 1 passing yard to trigger a $500,000 bonus for reaching 500 passing yards for the season.

Darrell Luter Jr.. He is Green’s likely replacement. He started against Jacksonville in Week 4, also replacing Green in that game.

As for other injuries, the Niners have defensive lineman Yetur Gross-Matos as questionable. He is on the disabled list with a hamstring strain, but he practiced twice this week and Shanahan said the team will decide whether to activate him on Monday. The rookie linebacker Nick Martin He was placed on the disabled list Saturday due to a concussion, which could open a spot on the 53-man roster for Gross-Matos. Team could promote veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks from the practice squad this week.

Kendricks suffered a calf injury, but trained all week and Shanahan confirmed that he is available for the game against the Colts. The linebacker Tatum Bethune and the defensive end Sam Okuayinonu They also recovered from ankle sprains and are expected to return to the starting lineup Monday night.
