Highly praised as a junior player – and as a professional? Not everyone managed to make the jump. However, numbers 1 and 2 from 2015 in particular are definitely on the right track!

#10: Alvaro Lopez San Martin
The Spaniard won the junior doubles title at the French Open in 2015 alongside compatriot Jaume Munar. The paths of the two then took very different paths: While Munar became an integral part of the active tour – he currently has his career high of 36th place – Lopez San Martin did not make the leap. Rank 280 was his highest ranking in 2023, which is also the last year in which he actively played.
#9: William Blumberg
The American was a finalist in the French Open junior doubles tournament and was primarily a successful college player. He didn’t really make it to the pros, at least in the individual, place 438 was the maximum. Things went better in doubles, where Blumberg was ranked 74th in 2022 and won three ATP titles. Blumberg ended his career after the US Open 2024.
#8: Miomir Kecmanovic
The most successful one so far! The Serb won the Orange Bowl (2015, 2016) and is consistently active in the extended world elite. Kecmanovic has celebrated two individual titles so far, including this year in Delray Beach. In 2023 he was already at number 27 in the ATP ranking.
#7: Mikael Ymer
The great Swedish hope, together with his brother Elias Ymer. In 2015 he reached the junior Wimbledon final and was ranked 50th on the tour in 2023. However, due to three missed doping tests in 2021, Ymer was banned for 18 months in July 2023 and ended his career. In 2025 he dared to make a comeback, without much success so far. Ymer is currently only ranked 629th.
#6: Orlando Luz
The Brazilian was a household name on the junior tour and was particularly successful in doubles – in 2014 he won the title here at Wimbledon and in 2013 he reached the final at the French Open. It is therefore hardly surprising that Luz is also the most successful doubles player on the ATP tour. 54th place is his career high, which he achieved in the summer of 2025. In the individual, “only” place was 272nd, Luz is currently ranked 888th.
#5: Tomas Barrios Vera
The Chilean has had a decent career so far, even though he is hardly known. In 2024 he was ranked 93rd in the ATP rankings and is currently ranked 111th. Barrios Vera is mainly active on clay and there on the Challenger Tour. He has already been in a final here 17 times, winning 7 titles, all on clay.
#4: Seongchan Hong
The South Korean rose to 141st place in 2024 – things have been quiet about him since then. There is not a single result from him on the ATP or ITF tour from 2025.
#3: Mate Valkusz
Valkusz even climbed to number 1 in the junior category in January 2016, but he has not yet managed to break through to the top on the tour. 204th place was the highest so far, the Hungarian is currently number 646.
#2: Casper Ruud
He definitely did it! Casper Ruud has already appeared in three major finals and was almost number 1 in the world. And long known as “Mr. 250”: The Norwegian took his first ten tournament victories all in the 250 category. The first 500cc title followed in Barcelona in 2024, and this year there was a Masters victory in Madrid. Dad Christian Ruud, also a professional in the 90s, is certainly proud!
#1: Taylor Fritz
Ten years ago he was known as “Taylor Harry Fritz”. He has now given up Harry and has had a mega-successful career: Taylor Fritz celebrated his greatest success in 2015 with his victory against Tommy Paul in the final of the US Open in the junior division, thus avenging his defeat in the Roland-Garros final. The American played his most successful season on the tour in 2024, especially thanks to reaching the final at the US Open. Fourth place was his highest ranking so far; the American is currently ranked sixth. Strong!
