24 points ahead for Norris over Piastri in the championship

With three Grand Prix remaining, the title race is becoming clearer. After his dominating weekends in Mexico and Brazil, Lando Norris leads the championship with 390 points. He is 24 points ahead of Oscar Piastri and 49 over Max Verstappen. The reigning four-time world champion is still in the race as there are 83 points left to be awarded with the three races and a sprint in Qatar next weekend.

The starting grid: Norris on pole ahead of Verstappen, Piastri 5th

In wet and changeable conditions, qualifying was lively. Lewis Hamilton was taken out in Q1 as was Yuki Tsunoda. Up front, it was Lando Norris who shone again by taking pole position ahead of Max Verstappen. For a scorching first line. Carlos Sainz did well in these conditions by placing his Williams in third row ahead of George Russell and Oscar Piastri, once again behind. Note the ninth place of Charles Leclerc, best Ferrari therefore.
