The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico achieved an outstanding performance in the ANUIES 2025 National University Championships, adding a total of 71 medals: 17 gold, 17 silver and 37 bronze. This result placed the green and gold representative as one of the most outstanding delegations of the contest, reflecting the strength of university sports in the institution.
531 UAEMéx athletes participated in the event, made up of 248 women and 283 men, who competed in 32 disciplines. These included chess, athletics, badminton, basketball, baseball, university boxing, fencing, racquetball, association football, speed football, aerobic gymnastics, handball, judo, karate do, kickboxing, swimming, archery, tae kwon do, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, as well as new categories such as e-sports and paddle tennis.
During the competitions, the athletes were accompanied by administrative staff from the Directorate of Physical Culture and Sports, who provided logistical and technical support to guarantee their optimal performance at each venue.
Among the most notable results is the participation of swimmer Yael Emiliano Nava Villa, who won two gold medals in the 1500 meter freestyle and 200 meter backstroke events. Meanwhile, Verónica Vega Vidal won the bronze medal in the 200 meter freestyle, helping to consolidate the closing of the delegation in the aquatic competitions.
Medal number 71 for the UAEMéx came through the E-sports team, in the Marvel Rivals discipline. The team was made up of Bruno Martínez Pérez, Benjamín Isai Romero Ramírez, Josué Maximiliano Gómez Delgado, Rogelio Alexander Hidalgo Poletto, Gloria Andrés Olivares, Emiliano Francisco Espinosa Meza, Edgar Jesús Vizoso Martínez, María Fernanda Ramírez Chávez and coach Dante Aramis Díaz Cruz.
The commitment and effort of the university athletes was reflected in each competition, consolidating the image of the UAEMéx as an institution that promotes the comprehensive development of its student community.
With this performance, the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico reaffirmed its leadership in the national sports field and its ability to promote academic and physical excellence in each of its representations.
