Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova said that in Russian football there are more scandals than results, reports “RB Sport”.

“The greatness of any sport is judged primarily by its results. Is it possible to say based on our results in football that this is a national sport, a great one? There are more scandals in our football than results,” Tarasova said.

In February 2022, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended the Russian national team, including both youth and Russian teams, from tournaments under their auspices. Thus, clubs do not have the right to play in the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, and the men’s team was deprived of the opportunity to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. Also, Russian football players did not play at the 2024 European Championship and were not allowed to participate in the draw for the 2026 World Cup.

Earlier it was reported that a Russian football player who played for the national team wants change sports citizenship.
