Tacna Badminton: 3 Players Compete in Colombia 2025

Diego Condori, Mayiri Valencia and Renato Ortiz are chosen from Tacna to raise the name of the heroic city and Peru in the next Badminton South American Championship, which will be held in Bucaramanga, Colombia.

Badminton, a relatively new sport in Tacna, has been part of the lives of these teenagers for approximately the last 3 years.

The international event, which will bring together more than 80 competitors, will take place from December 5 to 15 in Colombia; Therefore, the Tacna athletes will travel to Lima next week to join the national team.

Two of them, Diego Condori and Mayiri Valencia, participated this last weekend in the I Tacna Badminton Open 2025, a competition where they showed their skill with the racket and where, when speaking with Uno Deportes, they showed their excitement and commitment in representing Tacna in this international competition in the sub-19 category, despite being the sub-17 category.

The fact: the Peruvian Badminton Sports Federation has donated a badminton court for Tacna and the Peruvian Sports Institute in Tacna has been offering free badminton classes at its facilities.
