Fabio Paratici has spoken publicly for the first time about the 30-month suspension imposed on him by an Italian court as the main organizer of the falsification of Juventus’ business books.
In April 2023, he was fined for inflating the amount of the transfer by which he increased the club’s capital gains, as a result, Juventus displayed more assets.
All members of the club’s management led by Andrea Agnelli were punished, Paratici was sentenced when he was already in Tottenham.
He worked at Juventus from 2010 to May 2021:
– Given my personality, when I was faced with this situation, I felt that it would be wrong to defend myself. You only defend yourself when you have done something wrong, and I always felt that I did nothing wrong, Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.
– It was a very long process, you have to deal with situations you never thought you would face. At the end of it all, you almost feel like a better person. “No one has ever said that Juventus and all the people involved together with me, were not condemned for ‘artificial’ or distorted valuation of players, but for an accounting principle that has never been used before or since,” Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.
If he felt innocent, why did he accept the plea deal?
– Accepting the settlement was a responsible decision, the situation dragged on for four and a half years, the sports ban had already expired, and the civil proceedings were only in the preliminary phase. We wouldn’t know how and when it would end for years. It hurts my career, so I decided to be responsible and accept the settlement, says Paratici.
Interestingly, when the suspension expired in October 2025, he again became the manager of Tottenham, it is an open secret how active he was during the suspension:
– I returned to Tottenham because they made me feel at home at the club. They never judged me here, they just showed support and help. There was never a moment when I felt that they doubted me, said Paratica, who was mentioned as the director of Milan before Iglio Tare:
– I will not worry about why we failed to reach an agreement, said Paratica.
