The New Marsala Basketball wins a hard-fought but fundamental victory against the Gioiese basketballimposing itself for 89-85 after extra time. A match full of emotions and twists, marked by growing nervousness in the final stages and vibrant protests, both on the pitch and in the stands, over some controversial refereeing decisions.
The start of the match saw Marsala take the lead in the first two quarters (21-15 and 24-16), only to suffer a comeback from the guests in the third period (15-28). Even balance at the last siren (16-17 in the fourth quarter), before the decisive extension in extra time, where the coach’s men Grillo they demonstrate character and clarity despite the tense nerves and the incandescent atmosphere.
The team was forced to give up already in the first half Nicolò Abrignani (#23), expelled due to an unclear episode, but was able to count on the great performances of Justas Vieveris (27 points, 6/6 free throws), Lorenzo Allegri (19 points and constant presence on both sides of the pitch) e Antonio Donato (14 points, 100% free throws) who dragged the team through the most difficult moments.
The finale, characterized by great tension and protests towards the referees by the public and the players, did not, however, prevent Marsala from taking home two very precious points in terms of the standings.
