FC Bayern in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup at Union Berlin
In the round of 16 of the DFB Cup, the clubs from the Bundesliga and 2nd league are among themselves. Bayern have to play away. The fans can look forward to a top duel.
The record cup winners FC Bayern Munich are already heading to the final in Berlin in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup. The sovereign league leader in the Bundesliga has to play against 1. FC Union. The sailor Felix van den Hövel drew this pairing at the draw in the German Football Museum in Dortmund on ZDF.
The top duel in the round of the last 16 teams is the game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, the double winner from 2024. Defending champion VfB Stuttgart has to play at VfL Bochum. The next round will take place on December 2nd and 3rd.
Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC St. Pauli face each other in another Bundesliga duel. In the northern derby, Hamburger SV meets second division club Holstein Kiel. RB Leipzig, currently second in the Bundesliga, will face 1. FC Magdeburg in the round of 16, while SC Freiburg will host SV Darmstadt 98. Hertha BSC and 1. FC Kaiserslautern face each other in a pure two-league duel.
VAR there from the round of 16 onwards
From the round of 16 onwards, the video referee is permitted. The technical aid was not yet used in the previous rounds. As a result, one or another referee came into focus after controversial decisions.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for early and mid-February. The two semi-finals will be played in mid-April and the final in the Berlin Olympic Stadium will take place on May 23, 2026.
