Ex-Miss Belgium & Ruben Van Gucht: On-Air Clash

Both Ruben Van Gucht and Annelien Coorevits have been involved in the Flemish media for years. Van Gucht is a permanent fixture at VRT, where he serves as a commentator on cyclo-cross and women’s cycling, and can be heard every weekend in De Weekwatchers on Radio2. He also regularly appears in sports documentaries and live reporting on Belgian football.

Annelien Coorevits, former Miss Belgium and ex-TV face at VTM, is now working hard as a presenter and podcast host. Together with her sister Nele, she creates ‘De Zussen Coorevits’, a popular chat podcast that focuses on candid conversations, humor and recognizable themes.

Van Gucht receives no excuses

A while ago, Coorevits was a guest in De Weekwatchers, Van Gucht’s Saturday morning program. The atmosphere was so good that the two spontaneously agreed to “invite each other over”.

Annelien kept her word and then brought in Van Gucht as a future guest in ‘De Zussen Coorevits’, the podcast she records together with her sister. “The two of us”, it sounded full of expectations. Only… the season has now ended and Van Gucht was not told anything.

Ruben Van Gucht then decided to take the bull by the horns. He called Annelien live during De Weekwatchers to gently remind her of that promise. Coorevits laughed, but at first seemed to have forgotten it completely. “Uh… oh yeah… right,” she responded in surprise. But there were no excuses: “No, I’m not going to give one anyway,” he said.
