ST. LOUIS. Slovak talent Dalibor Dvorský got the moment he had been waiting for since entering the NHL.
At night, he made waves in Edmonton’s net and helped St. Louis to a valuable 3:2 triumph on home ice.
He became the 77th Slovak player to score in the NHL.
The moment of the 20-year-old Slovakian came in the power play during the second period with a score of 0:2 for the Oilers. Dvorský first won the ball in the offensive zone against veteran Adam Henrique and moved to his usual position – the left circle.
There came an ideal pass from Justin Faulk and Dvorský was not mistaken. He beat goalkeeper Calvin Pickard with a precise shot from the first.

“Honestly, I didn’t care if I tipped it in there or hit it from the first. A first goal is just a first goal. I’m glad it worked out that way.
But really, it doesn’t matter how I put it. Coaches and teammates often tell me to shoot when I have the opportunity. So I shot“, he said Dvorský in post-match interviews.
Thomas, who had a secondary assist on Dvorský’s goal, participated in the victory of the Blues with a 1+1 balance. “It was an important goal. Everyone saw how we continued to press after it.
Sometimes you need a power play to break a match. It was an incredible shot that helped us change the course of the game,” said Thomas.
Coach Montgomery expressed himself in a similar vein: “I think everyone wants their first goal to look exactly like this: ‘I shot from the first and hit it under the crossbar.’ That’s exactly the kind of goal you want to talk about.”
He scored the moment Edmonton captain Connor McDavid received a minor penalty for tripping. Until then, he participated in both Oilers’ goals with assists and reached the goal of 1100 points in the NHL.
Dvorský scored in the fifth NHL game, the third this season. It was also his first point in the pro league. They declared him the third star of the duel.
The Zvolensk protege entered the meeting as the center of the third attack with wingers Oskar Sundqvist and Dylan Holloway.

He spent 14 minutes and 33 seconds on the ice. He scored the goal from the only shot on goal, he also scored one point and had a 13 percent success rate on throw-ins, winning one of eight.
After Samuel Honzek, Dvorský is the second Slovak player who opened his point account in the NHL in the 2025/2026 season. At the same time, he is the tenth Slovak in the history of the Blues to score.
“We performed as a team, and I think the fans got a kick out of it as well. I try to give my best. I have a lot of support from my teammates. I really enjoy being part of this team,” stated Dvorský, for whom it was the second NHL victory since his debut game last season against Nashville (4:1).
St. Louis got off to a good start thanks to the young Slovak’s goal, as Robert Thomas tied the game at 2:2 in the 39th minute and forward Pius Suter decided on his team’s triumph in the 59th minute.
The Blues snapped a negative streak and won after seven losses. They are still in second-to-last 15th place in the Western Conference.
Coach Jim Montgomery was happy with the win over last season’s Stanley Cup finalists: “We’re a team in the process. We have to be good at the details, like in front of the goal.
If we do well, we will create more chances. Today was an organized performance. I believe that if we continue like this, we will win a lot of games.”
VIDEO: McMann’s winning goal
An even more significant turn was seen by the audience in Toronto. The home team lost to Pittsburgh 0:3 after two periods, but with four goals in the third they turned it around to 4:3.
Forward Bobby McMann scored the winning goal in the 54th minute. Two goals for the guests were scored by 18-year-old newcomer Benjamin Kindel, who after 12 matches already has five accurate hits.
After an injury and a two-game absence, William Nylander, the author of two goals and an assist, returned to the Toronto lineup in style.
Two goals for the guests were scored by 18-year-old newcomer Benjamin Kindel, who after 12 matches already has five accurate hits.
The Maple Leafs won the fourth game out of the past five.
Nashville players are also experiencing an unsuccessful start to the season. They did not improve their balance much even in the home game against Vancouver, which they lost 4:5 after overtime.
It was their ninth loss in the season, in which they have 13 points after 14 games.
The Canucks’ triumph was decided two seconds before the end of overtime by forward Brock Boeser, who had a 2+1 record in the match.
