BOMMELERWAARD – Local sports clubs in Zaltbommel and Maasdriel are celebrating a significant fundraising success, raking in a combined total of over €64,000 through the annual Big Club Campaign.

This impressive haul is part of a nationwide effort where over 6,500 associations have collectively raised more than €24 million since 1972. The Big Club Campaign empowers members of sports, cultural, and other community groups to sell raffle tickets, with a substantial 80% of each ticket sale directly benefiting their respective organizations. It’s a grassroots fundraising model that truly fuels local athletic and cultural endeavors.

Maasdriel Shines with Strong Support
In Maasdriel, the community’s dedication to its clubs is evident. Kerkdriel’s Koninklijke Harmonie Semper Crescendo brought in €120,while the Kerkdrielse Badminton Club served up €703.20. The standout performer in Kerkdriel was VV DSC, which netted an incredible €15,048.Hedel also saw robust participation, with DES Hedel collecting €201.60 and VV Hedel scoring €5186.40. Hurwenen’s Rotac’82 raised €331.20, and HRC’14 galloped to €2157.60. Ammerzoden’s equestrian club, Gelderse Boys, garnered €768, football club Jan van Arckel kicked in €3196.80, and the gym and gymnastics club Ammerzoden tumbled to €4624.80. The Alem Rakkers in Alem rounded out the Maasdriel contributions with €876.

Zaltbommel Clubs hit the Mark
Zaltbommel’s clubs also demonstrated remarkable fundraising prowess.In Brakel, WTC Maas-waal pedaled in €206.40, and the River Skate Team in Zuilichem glided to €597.60. Aalst saw VV Podarwic raise €621.60. Within Zaltbommel itself, Wahoo Swimming made waves with €739.20, Handball Club bommelerwaard scored €928.80, and basketball club Ardito shot for €1687.20. Aikido Ando demonstrated discipline with €1840.80, gymnastics and gymnastics club Argos achieved €4116, Scouting St. Martinus rallied €4504.80, and Nivo Sparta led the charge with an impressive €6475.20. Further contributions came from DSW Sway of Life in Bruchem (€820.80), GVV’63 in Gameren (€3153.60), and VV Kerkwijk in Kerkwijk (€5258.40).

The success of the Big Club Campaign in Bommelerwaard underscores the vital role these local associations play in their communities, providing opportunities for recreation, skill development, and social connection.
