Aichi Gakuin x Seahorse Mikawa: Origami Crane Art Event

Thank you for your continued support of Seahorse Mikawa.

A special project between Seahorse Mikawa and Aichi Gakuin University interns will be held on December 5th (Friday) and 6th (Saturday) at Shiga Lakes match @Wing Arena Kariya! We will be holding an “art event that connects people with origami cranes.”

An intern from Aichi Gakuin University, who usually works at Seahorse Mikawa home games, planned an event with the theme of “art that anyone can participate in” in conjunction with World Basketball Day. Anyone can participate in making art just by folding and pasting paper cranes!

Thoughts put into origami cranes

Origami cranes have been a familiar means of expression that anyone can easily participate in, and since ancient times people have been able to fold them with all their heart, just like 1,000 paper cranes.

Taking advantage of this characteristic, we will carry out an art project that will connect the thoughts of many people and give form to a single work.

Event overview

This is a participatory project in which visitors collect origami cranes and attach them to large-scale art works based on the theme of the SDGs. The key point is that it can be done in just 1 to 2 minutes.

Don’t worry if you’re wondering, “Can it be broken for the first time?” or “Is it safe for children?” Our staff will be happy to assist you!

  • All origami will be provided at the venue.

What is World Basketball Day?

December 21, 1891 was the day the first basketball game was played. The idea is to expand the circle of people connected by basketball.

This time’s theme “SDGs × Social Inclusion”

We use origami cranes to express our thoughts that “everyone can participate” and “everyone can have fun.”

Among the SDGs,
・Goal 10: Eliminate inequality
・Goal 17: Achieve through partnerships
We aim to convey this in an easy-to-understand manner through art.

Message to participants

“Your single bird changes the color of the work.”
“You don’t need to bring anything. Feel free to join us, you’re welcome!”

This is an event that you can easily enjoy while waiting for the game.

The work will be completed with your origami cranes, so please stop by!
