Rodri Injury Update: Guardiola Provides No Return Date

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City are still without a firm return date for Rodri (29) despite the influential midfielder being pictured back in training this week.

Rodri has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in City’s 2-0 win over Brentford at the start of October. The Spaniard’s absence has been keenly felt, with City struggling for rhythm in midfield during his spell out.

Speaking to the media ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Swansea, Guardiola urged caution over rushing the 29-year-old back. “No [return date]hopefully soon, but not yet,” he said. “He’s getting better, training with us partially. But after what happened twice before with muscular issues, we’ll see how it evolves this week.”

Guardiola also provided updates on the fitness of Erling Haaland and Abdukodir Khusanov. The Norwegian striker remains a doubt after sustaining a knock in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, while Khusanov is in line to make his return after a month out.

Erling had a knock, day by day, it’s better,” Guardiola added. “We’ll train this afternoon and see how he feels. Khusanov is ready to play a few minutes tomorrow.
