Michał Kwiatkowski, set to race at a high level for British team Netcompany INEOS in the 2026 season, has publicly credited his wife, Agata, as the bedrock of his career and personal life, Przegląd Sportowy reported. The 36-year-old Polish cyclist, who continues to demonstrate strong form despite recent injury struggles, stated that his relationship with Agata spans nearly two decades and has been indispensable to his achievements on and off the bike.
A 20-Year Partnership Through Triumph and Adversity
Kwiatkowski’s bond with Agata dates back to the very beginning of his professional career. He dedicated his 2014 UCI World Championship victory in the men’s road race in Ponferrada, Spain, to her. The couple married in 2019, solidifying a partnership that Kwiatkowski describes as his greatest support.
“My wife Agata is a person who takes everything on her shoulders and handles it well,” Kwiatkowski stated, according to the report. “She knows how to put it all into words. She has been my biggest support throughout my entire career. We have been together for almost 20 years, and I can’t imagine being an athlete and achieving what I have without her.”
This support was particularly crucial during a difficult period. In a podcast with Eurosport, Kwiatkowski revealed that the last three years tested his resolve due to persistent injuries.
“In the last three years, I had enough, with the injuries, I had a lot of moments of crisis that I had to get out of. It was not easy to take so many breaks,” he admitted. However, he was quick to clarify that he never considered quitting the sport he loves. He acknowledged that while his career has had many difficult moments, he has dealt with them through the strength of his relationship with his wife. In times of crisis, Agata is the one who “quickly brings him down to earth and lifts his spirits,” he said.
Agata’s Role: From Family to Business
Agata Kwiatkowski’s influence extends beyond emotional support. On a daily basis, she is responsible for raising their daughters and also assists her husband in managing the Copernicus Cycling Academy in Toruń, Poland. The academy, founded by Kwiatkowski, aims to promote cycling among children and youth and to train athletes to a high competitive standard.
Daughters Give Him a New Perspective
Openly acknowledging that family life has changed him as a cyclist, Kwiatkowski explained that his daughters have provided him with a broader perspective. He noted that they have shown him that there is a world beyond cycling.
“The kids give you the sense that whatever happens in sport, business, and so on, doesn’t really matter,” he shared in a conversation with Piotr Karpiński. “I see how they enjoy every little thing, how they perceive the world, what things they remember. It’s nice to get such a perspective from them and to see that what’s important to them are completely different things.”
While he is no longer as reckless on the road as he once was, he attributes this change not only to fatherhood but also to the memory of accidents that have befallen his fellow cyclists.
The couple’s close relationship is frequently showcased on social media. Kwiatkowski’s Instagram account features numerous photos and videos with his wife and daughters, who are often seen supporting him at races. The cyclist does not hide that his “girls” are his most loyal fans.
