Fred Warner Injury: 49ers Linebacker Out for Season

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner’s season is likely over. He injured his ankle with just over eight minutes left in the first quarter Sunday.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said after his team lost 30-19 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that Warner had suffered a dislocated and broken ankle and would have to undergo season-ending surgery.

With the Bucs in possession, Rachaad White ran for a 10-yard gain. Warner tried to contain White before taking him to the ground, but teammate Ji’Ayir Brown tripped behind him on his ankle.

He left the meeting a few minutes later.

Injuries are piling up for the 49ers. San Francisco already lost the services of Nick Bosa due to a torn ligament in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals. They are still without the services of George Kittle, Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings.
