Durazo Awards Scholarships to Student Athletes | DVT News

Governor Alfonso Durazo awarded scholarships for a total of 5 million 718 thousand pesos to 139 Sonoran athletes and coaches who stood out in the National Basic Education School Sports Games, in recognition of their performance, effort and discipline. The financial support, which ranges from 36 thousand to 48 thousand pesos per beneficiary, will be granted for 12 months.

During the ceremony, the state leader highlighted that Sonora obtained 54 medals: 17 gold, 16 silver and 21 bronze, placing third in the overall medal table in primary, secondary and total. He stressed that promoting sports is a priority of his government and urged young people to continue pursuing excellence in the field of sports.

Sonora achieved first national places in athletics at both educational levels and a second place in table tennis, in addition to obtaining a bronze medal in badminton for the first time. Educational and sports authorities accompanied the governor during the awards event.
