Over and out for Belgian football fans after bad news about DAZN

Saturday, October 11, 2025 – 5:45 PM I by FVH

DAZN has informed the Pro League that it cannot comply with the tender, the agreement between both parties. It states that an agreement must be reached with two other parties about the broadcasting of Belgian football. However, no agreement was reached with the telecom operators.

A while ago it was reported in the press that an agreement was in the making with Proximus, but today the positions are far too far apart. As a result, there is a stalemate and there is only one victim: the viewer. They can only watch live Belgian football via the DAZN app.

There is no prospect of a quick solution. The entire season in the Jupiler Pro League is in danger of only being viewable on an app. There is clearly no appetite at Telenet and Proximus to make another agreement with DAZN.

A solution could be for the Pro League to talk to other parties and DAZN to give up part of its exclusivity in exchange for being allowed to pay less. In any case, this is serious anti-advertising for Belgian football.
