Wadersloh (mw/bb). On August 31, the Mauritzhalle in Wadersloh was the scene of a sporty highlight for regional badminton sports: TuS Wadersloh organized the association ranking in the badminton for the North district in NRW. From 9.30 a.m., the balls flew on a total of six playing fields- in men’s and women’s doubles with a total of 36 reported pairings.

28 doubles competed in the men’s category, and the women were eight. The hosts from Wadersloh were also strongly represented: six double pairs started for the TuS. All players were able to participate over and under 19, all clubs of the two north districts were invited in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The tournament also had a special occasion for TuS Wadersloh: the badminton team celebrated its one-year anniversary as the host of ranking games. In the previous year, a association tournament took place in the Mauritzhalle, which at that time served in addition to the practical exam for 20 prospective referees. This time, too, Christian Berhorst took on an experienced man the role of the referee. Berhorst is not only department head in Wadersloh, but also recently also a temporary presidium member “Competition Sport” in the Badminton regional association North Rhine-Westphalia.

The view of TuS Wadersloh is already focused on the future: In the spring of 2026, an even bigger tournament is to follow. Then the association ranking for children and adolescents from the U11 age group to U19 is held on two halls in Wadersloh.
