El Real Madrid has completed the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Sergio Martínez from Racing de Santander for three million euros, securing his services through 2030. The Laredo-born player will initially join Real Madrid Castilla while maintaining a pathway to train alongside the senior squad.

The transaction was finalized after Real Madrid triggered the exact buyout clause in the player’s contract, paying the total sum in a single installment. Racing de Santander confirmed the agreement through an official statement, noting that the young midfielder departs the Cantabrian club after spending his entire youth career within their development ranks.
“Racing and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Sergio Martínez,” the Cantabrian club stated in its official release. “The Madrid club commits to paying, in a single delivery, the entirety of the amount fixed as the buyout clause of the contract that united Real Racing Club with the player. In virtue of that, the footballer from Laredo leaves the verdiblanca discipline.”
Pathway from the Cantabrian Academy to Castilla
Martínez has been part of Racing de Santander since he was 10 years old, progressing through the club’s academy system from the Alevín B squad all the way to the senior team. Prior to his departure, he made 15 competitive appearances for the Racing first team. Earlier this season, the teenage midfielder achieved a significant milestone by scoring his first goal in the top flight of Spanish football following the club’s promotion from the category of plata.
