This morning, UPAEP presented Valeria Sánchez as her new coach of the Women’s Basketball Youth Team, with the entrustment of keeping the team in the first planes of the circuit at the preparatory level.
Through a press conference carried out within the institution itself, the sports coordinator, Edwin León was responsible for welcoming him.
He also commented that they chose Valeria due to her experience training different teams and because she already knows the ideology of the “eagles”, because he already had a step with the institution a few years ago.
For her part, the coach was very happy and grateful for receiving this opportunity; stating that he will come here to “do what he knows best” referring to his ability to lead a team.
He also commented that the main objective will be to classify the national tournaments that are at the door and on the way, intends to improve both individual and collective skills of their players.
The Coach has been working with the team for three weeks, time in which it has focused on practicing technical aspects and raising strategies to execute them in the matches.
In that sense, he mentioned that they already held their first preseason game a few days ago, in which they defeated the Madero University.
He also expressed his gratitude to the players, because he acknowledged that they have given him a great reception and are sticking to their indications.
Prior to the start of the season, the Eagles plan to have three or four more preparation games with the intention of continuing to polish some details and arriving in optimal conditions to their first official game on September 25.
Similarly, Valeria Sánchez shared a little about his career in the Dies.
She is originally from Cuernavaca, Morelos and studied high school at the Tec de Monterrey Campus Puebla. There he played for three years and then migrate to the UDLAP, where he played in division I of the ABE League.
He later made his mastery at the Inter -American University and stayed very close to getting promotion with the hawks. Shortly after, the Covid-19 pandemic arrived and this meant the end of her career as a university player.
From there he began his stage as a coach in the UPAEP youth teams. Then he migrated to Guatemala to be an assistant to the national women’s team and was also a coach of the U17 team with whom he had the opportunity to attend some Central American games.
Finally he returned to Mexico to lead the ITESM Monterrey women’s team whom he commanded to the Ocho Grandes tournament championship.
With this curriculum, coach Valeria Sánchez will seek to preach with the example and guide the UPAEP Eagles to the first planes in collegial basketball.
