Trump-Tokayev Conversation: Key Details

Washington, 07 September (H.C.). US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he had a very good conversation with Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan. Trump made this comment to reporters while leaving the White House, when he was going to join the men’s final of the US Open Tennis tournament. However, he did not expand on the issues of negotiation.

Tokayev wrote a letter to Trump in July last, in which he expressed his readiness for creative dialogue on business issues. This came when the US imposed 25 percent new tariffs on goods coming from Kazakhstan.

The US and Kazakhstan signed the advanced strategic partnership agreement in Trump’s first term (2017), which emphasized security and business cooperation.

In the year 2024, the trade business between the US and Kazakhstan reached $ 4.2 billion, which was 4% higher than in 2023. The main exports of Kazakhstan to the US were crude oil (56.2%), uranium (16.4%), silver (12.2%), ferroaloys (9.5%), Tantalum and its product (0.89%).
